Wedding Albums are a very big part of what we do as wedding photographers. There are few better ways to ensure your photographs become an heirloom than having them preserved in an album. Wedding Albums didn’t really start becoming popular until the 1950′s. Now, it is 2010 and things are changing. More and more of my brides have been asking about a ‘digital wedding album’ and until recently there really hasn’t been a good way to make that happen….then came the iPad.
The iPad is the piece of technology that everyone wants this year. I got to thinking, wait a minute…this might be the answer to my digital album requests. So, I bought an iPad, put some images on it and showed it to a few potential clients…5 of them to be exact. I would have never guessed what happened. 4 out of the 5 ditched the traditional album in favor of the iPad album!! So, after much testing and reviews from brides and future brides I am happy to offer the iPad digital wedding album.
How does this all work? Pretty simple actually. You decide which iPad model you want and I build a digital album that is loaded into the iPad. Brides, can you think of anything cooler than carrying your iPad around with your entire wedding album in it? It makes sharing your album with anyone a breeze…and awesomely cool! Guys love them too! When not showing off your incredible photographs (hehe) the iPad works just like any other iPad.
Make sure you to ask how you can add an iPad Wedding Album to your package. You can add it in addition to your traditional album or as a replacement, it is up to you. No matter what you choose you will love it!

As Sarah and I made our way down the winding roads to Glencoe, hoping not to get lost, I had no idea what to expect and Phylicia and Rob’s wedding. The country-side kept sucking us in further and further. Cows were on the left…on the right and every house we drove by someone was on the porch looking at us suspiciously..ha. Oh, but I am glad we finally found little ol’ Glencoe!
The church that Phylicia and Rob were getting married in was a historic church, very old. You walked in and there was only one room…the chapel. That was it. A few rows of pews and not much more. After photographing in the big fancy churches around Pittsburgh almost non-stop, there was something relaxing and inviting to this little church. I really liked it a lot.
Sarah went and photographed Phylicia getting ready and I did the same for Rob. Holy cow, is this couple in love. In everything they do, their love for each other comes through. Upon seeing Rob, I asked him if he was nervous…usually the Groom acts all tough with something like…”Nah, I am good.” Rob admitted to being nervous, and at that moment I knew this would be a great wedding.
Below are a few of my favorite images from the wedding. I am still on schedule to have them released for viewing and purchase on Friday. On Friday head over to http://pictage.com/887277 OR better yet, go there before Friday and register. You will save $5 off your order by pre-registering for the event.

Engagement Photography•

When you are a wedding photographer you get the chance to shoot many engagement portrait sessions. I love shooting engagement sessions. Not only are they a chance to get out of the studio for a while but engagement sessions are a great way for me to hang out with the future bride and groom and get to know them. This always helps come wedding day. Everyone is more comfortable and both parties know what to expect from the other.
Ben and Ashley were a really fun couple to photograph. Ben proposed to Ashley on Mount Washington in Pittsburgh so it was easy to place it on the short-list of locations to photograph at. This lent itself to some great photographs with the city of Pittsburgh as the backdrop.
Ben and Ashley were getting ready to move when we took these pictures. The original plan was to do their engagement session come fall, but a new job opportunity for Ashley, in North Carolina, made moving the portrait session up a necessity.

This one is my personal favorite from the engagement session.

This photograph is pretty cool. It took me about 5 minutes and a hundred other shots before we nailed it. It involved me laying on the dirty ground looking straight up into the sun. Whatever it takes to get the shot, right??!!

So, there you have it. Another beautiful engagement photography session in Pittsburgh. Many thanks to Ben and Ashley for making it a very enjoyable time. See you both in June at your wedding!
A topic that often comes up when talking to my clients is family photographs at the wedding. Almost certainly you want to be photographed with your family, after all, your wedding day is going to be one of the most important days of your life!
When it comes to family photographs at your wedding a little planning can go a long way. First, let me know your ideas on family portraits. If you have a specific location or time to do them in mind, just let me know. Typically we photograph family portraits after the wedding ceremony and before the reception. Since the family photographs tend to be more formal, the church or other venue, is a great place to do them. If you have something else in mind just let me know. My assistant and I are up for about anything! Another thing you can plan before hand is who is going to be in the photographs. To save time, as time can be rather limited already for photographs, let your family and friends know before hand that they are expected to hang around after the ceremony. The less time we spend searching for people the more you have for photographs.
You can have as many groups and photographs as you like. We have photographed 5-75 people in family portraits! If you have any questions about your family portraits be sure to let me know. I always ask anyways, but don’t be afraid to speak up! With just a little planning we can make some awesome family portraits that will be around for generations to come!

“I’m so excited to finally have been able to see my photographs, you did an amazing job, I love all the pictures and I don’t think anyone else could have done as good a job as you did, every picture looks like a magazine cover!” – Nichole Miller
Last month I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding here in Somerset Pa. It was Brad and Nichole. They were married out near Sipesville and we also took some photographs up at Seven Springs Ski resort. I wanted to get this images up sooner but I have been photographing more than a few weddings and blog posts tend to take second place to actually getting the images in my clients’ hands.
The situation I had with Brad and Nichole I wish I had for every wedding. WE had over 2 hours in between the ceremony and the reception to do photographs. This rarely happens. Usually we have 45 minutes or something like that. WE did some photograph at their church in Sipesville before heading out to Seven Springs Ski Resort. The scenery there is beautiful year-round and is always a favorite place of mine to photograph. I am shooting a wedding there in about 3 weeks I am excited about (yes, I am talking about you Jessica, ha).
If you are still looking for a wedding photography, please consider me. Aside from the fact that I take some awesome photographs I am a fun loving guy who is easy to work with. On top of all of that, I have some money-saving specials right now. You can save up to $600 by booking your wedding before the end of July. Check out my wedding photography specials for more information.

I received a few e-mail asking about Brad and Nichole’s wedding photos from this past weekend so I wanted to give you a quick peek! I haven’t been posting many weddings to the blog lately because there have been soo many of them, but I may have to start adding some more. Anyways, here is a first-look at Brad and Nichole’s wedding photographs. I will add more later!

Brad and Nichole were married right outside of Somerset Pennsylvania in a little town called Sipesville. Their reception was in Bakersville so we thought a nice place to go after the Wedding Ceremony for pictures was Seven Springs Ski Resort. Seven Springs is a great place for not only wedding photography, but weddings as well.
Right now, until the end of June, I am offering some killer specials on Wedding Photography. If you are getting married anywhere near Pittsburgh, western Pennsylvania, or anywhere else, you need to check these deals out. You’re not going to find a better deal on some Wedding Photography anywhere. Please check out my Wedding Photography Specials Page for more information.
Senior Portraits•
on May 12th, 2010•

We have one word of advice for Senior Pictures this year…..book now! Everyday we get more and more High School Seniors or their parents inquiring about Senior Pictures. We try to keep the number of Seniors we shoot every year under 50, to ensure that everyone gets the best possible experience and pictures, so book now before it is too late!
Each year we get parents or students trying to book us at the last minute. We are just one of a number of photographers they have called trying to get a session, but everybody is completely booked. It happens every year and if you wait too long it will happen to you too! Don’t end up with anything less than you deserve. You want to look amazing right? You want to look better than all your friends, right? (Come on you can admit it, I won’t tell, lol)
Contact us today to ensure that you are not left without a professional photographer!
Everyone get At Least 3 Hours
Everyone who books us for their Senior Pictures will get at least 3 hours in front of the camera. In past years we offered packages ranging from and hour on up. We didn’t feel that was enough time to get all of the shots we wanted without rushing too much. So, this year, everyone, and we mean everyone, gets at least three hours in front of the camera. If you don’t need all three hours, great! Just know that it is there if you need it.
Just one more way that I am doing everything I can to provide the highest quality photography services.
Once again, please contact me to book your Senior Picture Session. Only a small deposit is required to hold your booking!

With the costs of higher end photography equipment coming down in the past few years there has been more than a few people trying their hand at wedding photography. I am sure most of you have noticed at least one of them. Now, I am not trying to knock them for trying to make something for themselves, but as a person looking for a wedding photographer you need to keep some things in mind.
A Photographer offered to Photograph my Wedding for $500.
If someone offers to photograph your wedding for $500….RUN! While you may be thinking about what a ‘bargain’ this is, think about what the numbers actually mean. An average wedding and reception runs about 8 hours. Add a few hours getting ready for the wedding, 15-20 hours after the wedding processing images etc, you are looking at 25-30 hours spent for each wedding. Now, take that $500 and subtract taxes and expenses and you may be left with $300 as a photographer. Now, if someone is willing to photograph your wedding for $10 an hour, ask yourself, why is this person willing to do a job that fetch a professional photographer $100 to $150 per hour for $10 an hour…Hmm…If they are any good at all they will have no problem getting the money a professional wedding photographer makes.
Remember, you get what you pay for. Your wedding is going to be one of the most, if not the most important day of your life. Don’t skimp on your photographer. We have heard more horror stories from people who hired these ‘bargain’ photographers than we could tell you about.
Trust your Wedding Day Memories to a PROFESSIONAL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER. Just like any other professional, we are well worth every dollar!

This past weekend I had the privilege of photographing a wedding in Greenville Pennsylvania. Travis and Heather were getting married and it was up to Sarah and I to capture all of the romantic moments of this very special day.
Photographing this wedding was very much like a lot of the weddings we photograph. We met the bride at her parent’s house for some pre-ceremony photographs. Sarah, my second photographer extraordinaire stayed with Heather while she was getting ready. This is an important aspect of our work flow and one thatĀ separatesĀ us from many other wedding photographers. Many brides prefer that a woman photographer be in the room with her while she is getting ready, and I totally understand. Therefore, Sarah always stays with the Bride while I go to the Church and photograph the building. I also find time to track down the Groom and get some photographs of him getting ready.
After the pre-ceremony photographs we dive right into the ceremony. Sarah and I take places on opposite sides of the venue in order to capture many angles that a single photographer could never cover. After the ceremony we did a number of large group shots. The next step in our work flow this day was a trip to a local park with the wedding party for some awesome photographs. We make sure we get the bride and groom all by themselves for at least a few minutes. This is such a great time. It is there first few moments to express their joy and happiness to each other without someone right in their face, and it makes for excellent memories. After that, the home stretch. We photograph the reception and stay to make sure we capture all of the special dances and moments.
